Hello CME Families! I hope you have enjoyed a wonderful week so far. I am so inspired by your children everyday. I feel very blessed to share in their growth and learning. I also hope you have something fun planned for the 3 day weekend. I am looking forward to some mountain biking and BBQing! Thank you for all you do to contribute to this amazing community!
Anti-Bullying - This week we are adding some language into our Parent/Student Handbook around anti-bullying. Our counselor, Mrs. Lagodny has been going to each classroom to share a district presentation geared toward anti-bullying behavior. This provides students with a definition of bullying (see wording below) as well as giving them ways to report it if they see it or it’s happening to them.
BULLYING
DCSD has a strict policy in addressing Bullying behavior.
Bullying is defined as: any written or oral expression, or physical or electronic act or gesture, including cyber-bullying that meets the following characteristics:
-
Is intentional, repeated or likely to be repeated, and marked by an imbalance of power, including physical, social, or socio-economic power
-
Is intended to coerce, intimidate, or cause any physical, mental, or emotional harm
In contrast, “peer conflict” is often part of normal interactions in daily school life. In the event of conflict, we support students in identifying and utilizing conflict resolution skills. Behavior that is identified as Bullying is considered serious and not tolerated.
School Accountability Committee - Our first meeting of the year was held on Monday. Our School Accountability Committee (SAC) meetings are always open to everyone. We are still needing three board positions - a Recorder, a District Accountability Committee (DAC) Liaison, and a Chairperson. If you or someone you know may be interested in joining our SAC Committee, please send me an email with a little about yourself and why you would like to do it by Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Our next meeting will be on Monday, September 30, 2024 starting at 4:00 in our library. (C’mon Kindergarten families!! Jump in!)
CMAS Score Reports - If your child(ren) were in 3rd-6th grade last year, you will be receiving a score report for Math, ELA & Science (5th grade only) in the mail.
Naming the Mascot - Well…the names are in. Each class submitted a name that they want to name our sweet cougar mascot. If you would like to vote, here is the FORM. Please vote by Wednesday Sept. 4th.
