CME Blast

News from Candice!

Hello everyone! Well…it’s still January, but we are close to saying goodbye to the longest month of all time! Last Friday, our staff engaged in professional learning and they were very excited to bring new ideas back to their classrooms. I wanted to send you all so much love and gratitude for being an amazing community!

Daughter Dance - Last Saturday night, our PTO hosted the Annual Daughter Dance here at CME! It was so much fun with a DJ, a perfume making station, a Scavenger Hunt, limo rides, face painting and yummy snacks. Everyone dressed up and had a great time. Thanks to all the parents who attended and a special shout out to the organizers, Tonia Neeley and Bianca Smith! See some fun photos below!

Dancing Through the Decades - Our 6th graders spent several weeks during their Specials block preparing for the Annual Dancing Through the Decades performance. Check out the fun pics below. Students collaborated with their team to research the music of their assigned decade. They chose music, costumes, and dance that was popular during that time. On Tuesday, they performed for our staff and students and it was such a blast! A special shout out and thanks to Mr. Novak and Ms. Muller for facilitating this fun event!

2025-2026 Budget Survey - I sent this out last week, but wanted to get as much community input as possible. As we approach the budget planning process for next year, I wanted to share some updates and gather your input. At this point, we are projecting an enrollment of 256 students in grades K-6 for next year. This is a decrease from our current enrollment of 274 students in those grades. (Note: Preschool and Little Pups are funded separately and not included in these numbers.)

Fewer students, unfortunately, means less funding, which may require some adjustments to next year’s budget. I value your insights as we navigate this process together.

Timeline and Next Steps:

  • January 31: 4:00 pm, deadline to fill out the survey

  • February 10: Final presentation of data and budget decisions to the community at the SAC meeting.

I understand that these discussions can be sensitive, as a significant portion of our budget involves staffing. When filling out the survey, please focus on positions rather than individuals. Additionally, I encourage everyone to approach conversations about this topic with care and mindfulness to ensure a positive environment for all.

Thank you for your input and continued support! I am grateful for this amazing community!
