Hello Cougar Families! It’s been an exciting week here at Copper Mesa! I have been enjoying every minute with our students. There is a positive feel around here as we gear up for our Winter Break. I hope you are able to stay relaxed and grounded during this busy time of year!

Congratulations to Ms. Müller (soon to be Mrs. Taylor) - This weekend, Ms. Müller, our amazing music teacher, will be walking down the aisle! We are so excited for her and if you are so inclined, please send her your love and best wishes. Congrats, Ms. Müller!

PLC Conference - This week, Ms. Andersen took a team of teachers to the PLC @Work Conference in Denver. For three days, they all trudged down to Denver early every morning (even on the snowy late start day) and came back late each evening so they could advance their understanding of the Professional Learning Communities model. We have been working in PLCs here at CME for the last three years, so this brought so much clarity to the practice. We want to thank Ms. Bryant, Ms. Zehner, Ms. Dew, Ms. Kolbo, and Ms. Squire. They are bringing back what they learned to our staff, and we are so thankful for their dedication to professional development!

Campus Security Specialist - We have finally filled our CSS position! We would like to welcome our newest Cougar, Mr. Adam Nelson! Adam comes to us with a background in security and technology. He will be stationed at the front door, but will be out and about throughout the day keeping our building safe and secure. Adam’s first day is on Friday, 12/13, but he will be out for some training for two days next week. When you see him around campus, please introduce yourselves and welcome him to the BEST community around!

Joyful times - I just love all the joy as I walk around our building! Check out some great photos of some of the beauty I see everyday as I am out and about. CME is truly the best and coming to work every day brings me so much joy!

Kindergarten registration opened on December 2, 2024! If you are currently enrolled in DCSD Preschool and you live in our boundary, you will automatically roll to us! All other Kindergarten students, enroll at the above link! If you live outside of our boundary but would like to attend CME, please open enroll here!

MVHS COMPUTER SCIENCE EXPO:

Come join us at Mountain Vista for the 4th annual Computer Science Expo December 10 from 6 to 7:30pm in U213 in celebration of CSEdWeek, an annual call to action to inspire K-12 students to learn computer science. We'll have stations of activities including robotics, circuit boards, video games, coding, and cybersecurity. We'll also have a panel of industry experts and collegiate computer science students for a Q&A session. There will be a raffle for prizes as well. Please RSVP at https://bit.ly/VistaCSEdWeek .

Donate to the Book Drive:

Copper Mesa is helping to support Mountain Vista High School's Project Humanity Club in collecting books. If you have any books that your child no longer reads please bring them into our donation boxes so that MVHS students can get them to a new home. Collection boxes are located outside the CME front office and in the library. Donations will be accepted through Thursday 12/19.
