Hello Copper Mesa Community!
I just want to say how very grateful I am to come to work everyday and have the privilege of doing this job. Thank you all so much for sharing your kids with us everyday!
SAC Vote - Thank you for voting for our amazing parents who would like to be a part of our School Accountability Committee. We will welcome Annie Abraham, Julie Krummenacher, and Bianca Smith to our SAC. Community members are always welcome to attend these meetings as well. Our next SAC meeting will be September 30th at 4:00.
Outdoor Education - This week our 6th graders went to Stone Canyon Edventures. They spent 3 nights up in Larkspur team building and adventuring. Mrs. Andersen and I each spent a day with them. We got to do all kinds of fun things like archery and zipline! See some cool pictures below!
PTO - Our PTO is so amazing! They granted our staff items from their wish lists this week. Your fundraising dollars are going directly into the classrooms to benefit kids. I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your continued fundraising support of our fabulous neighborhood school. I just wanted to send a quick plug for the upcoming In-N-Out Burger Fundraiser on September 27th. Tickets are for sale for $7, which includes a burger, chips and drink! In order for the food truck to come out to us, we must sell 200 tickets, so please reserve your tickets by 9/24 by filling out this FORM. We will get back 75% of the ticket sales!!
MVHS Spirit Bus - On Tuesday, we had the coolest assembly where our Mountain Vista Eagles came in to do a pep rally with us! It was so fun to get all pumped up and excited about all the future things our kiddos can look forward to in high school. Love these pics of all the fun!
5A (DCSD Bond Measure) -
On August 27, the Douglas County School District Board of Education unanimously voted 7-0 to place a $490 million Bond on the November 2024 ballot.
If passed by voters, this new funding would be used at our school to:
-
Enhance safety and security
-
Refresh student and staff technology
-
Replace flooring
-
Replace generator
-
Install new intercom system
If passed by voters, a $490 million Bond would be used to upgrade aging schools and facilities; build additional career and technical education pathways; upgrade school safety and security; and construct and expand neighborhood schools. The Bond would provide for two new elementary schools in growing areas of our county, as well as the expansion of one existing middle school.
A $490 million Bond would not increase current property taxes.
You can read more about DCSD’s funding challenges on our website. Thank you for being an engaged and informed member of our school community!
