Dear Copper Mesa Community,
Can you believe that it is almost September? The wonderful news is that we have a three-day Labor Day weekend!! I hope that you enjoy the extra day as a family. I am headed to Texas to visit my dad.
Our Thinking Map next week is: Brace Map
Our PRIDE Skill next week is: Innovation
This week I will mention the following:
-
Booster
-
WIN Time
-
SAC Ballot
BOOSTER
Our students have had an absolute blast this last week with our Booster friends visiting our school. I have seen students in conga lines at the end of lunch, dancing and playing with the Booster folks, and coming into the building with huge smiles on their faces because of Booster playing music and dancing as our students are entering the building. Tomorrow is the big day when our students will participate in an obstacle course, with K-3 going at 9:00 a.m. and 4-6 at 10:00 a.m. Please make sure your kiddos bring a water bottle and wear plenty of sunscreen. Parents are invited to come and watch the fun!!
A huge celebration!! - I just found out that we reached our goal of raising $20,000 for our school, in fact, we are at $22,000 as of this morning. And great news - the donation window will remain open until Monday for those last-minute donations/pledges. Last year we raised over $2,000 after the obstacle course and I bet we can reach $25,000 total!! Because we reached our goal, Candice and I will be getting paint all over us in a color run on Friday, September15th at the end of the day.
WIN TIME
What is WIN time you ask? Of course, we need another acronym in education so WIN stands for “What I Need”. Beginning next week our students will be spending 30 minutes, four times a week with students in their grade level neighbor's class, or with one of our Personalized Learning Team members to work on specific standards/skills that they need reinforcement in or extension, based on our recent iReady Diagnostic Assessment and other recent data. Our teachers will analyze data regularly to reform the groups approximately every six weeks.
SAC Ballot
Thank you to four wonderful parents in our community who expressed an interest in serving on our SAC. Included in this blast is a ballot for you to select up to four names. Please respond by next Thursday, September 7th. Click on this BALLOT to vote!
FIFTH GRADER
All the hoopla of the Douglas County Sheriff's being here this afternoon was to recognize a fifth grader, Will, from Mrs. Feinstein’s class. He wrote a very kind letter to the Sheriff's department sharing how he wanted to become a police officer some day. Our SRO, Deputy Buss, along with several other officers recognized Will as well as providing him with lots of police and fire department “swag”. Will’s proud mom and sister were also in attendance along with Mrs. Feinstein’s class. Way to go Will!
Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend.
