News from Steve

Dear Copper Mesa Community,

I’d like to thank all of you who took some time to vote during our recent election. We had a staff meeting yesterday, and I was sharing how grateful I am to be a part of Copper Mesa!!

Our PRIDE Skill next week is: Initiative

This week I will mention the following:

  • Veteran’s Day

  • All Pro Dad’s Breakfast

  • Apple Awards

  • Thanksgiving lunch

  • Turkey Drive

VETERAN'S DAY

Last call to invite all active duty military service personnel or Veterans to lunch tomorrow. We also ask all students to wear red, white, and blue to honor these courageous men and women!!

ALL PRO DADS BREAKFAST

I hope our cafeteria is filled with dads and their kiddos next Friday for our first All Pro Dad’s gathering of the year. We will begin eating breakfast at 7:30, I will spend some time chatting with everyone and then we will head to the last day of our book fair.

APPLE AWARDS

Another last call - the window to nominate an outstanding CME staff member closes on November 12th. Both certified and classified staff can be nominated. Our certified staff are our teachers and classified staff include roles such as our building engineer, office staff, and educational assistants. Preschool staff members can also be nominated. Nominate an outstanding staff member today!

THANKSGIVING LUNCH

Unfortunately, we will be unable to serve parents a Thanksgiving lunch this year as we have in years past because of staffing shortages both at schools and in nutrition services, but we still would love to have you join your kiddos for lunch anytime next week. Just check in at the office, and meet your children in the cafeteria during their lunch period. We have plenty of room for you all!!

TURKEY DRIVE

Our annual Turkey Drive is about to begin. Collections will be Wednesday 11/15 after school (until 4:30) and Thursday 11/16 before school starts (beginning at 8:00). All turkeys will be donated to the Denver Rescue Mission. What an amazing way to teach our students about so many life skills!

Thank you,

Steve

SSN PROJECT -

The SSN (significant support needs) students and staff are taking on a Holiday Project this season! We are collecting treats, toys and beds for the dogs at Freedom Service Dogs!

The dogs at Freedom Service Dogs are service dogs in training to support individuals with disabilities as well as individuals who are retired veterans. We are looking for donations of dog beds, dog treats and dog toys to give to this life long friend! The best part, we, the SSN program, are taking a field trip to Freedom Service Dogs in December so our students in the SSN program can meet these incredible dogs and give the dogs their gifts as well!

If you have NEW dog toys or beds and want to donate them please bring them down to the SSN room. Dog treat donations need to be unopened in order to safely give them to the dogs.

We are always accepting gently used dog beds and toys to donate to freedom service dogs :)

Thank you so much for your support!

The SSN Team
