News from Steve

Dear Copper Mesa Community,

The last school day of the 2023 school year!! It is hard to believe that we are already half way through this school year! It’s been a wonderful first semester and I am sure the second half will be equally as awesome!

BAND/ORCHESTRA CONCERT

Tuesday evening I had the distinct privilege of listening to our band and orchestra students perform several songs. They sounded great, and have improved a ton since the beginning of the school year. Thank you to all of our band and orchestra parents for encouraging your children to play an instrument. I hope they continue playing into middle school and beyond!

SLC SPIRIT DAY

Our Student Leadership Council designated Tuesday as a Winter Wonderland Spirit Day. Each class determined how they would dress up. Some classes were wearing winter and holiday hats, holiday sweaters and jammies were also popular. Our office staff and admin dressed in our winter PJs as we love wearing our PJs to school any chance we get!! We also had a door decorating contest. Check out a few photos of various classroom doors.

ART WORK

You’ve got to check out the 3D Relief Masks that our sixth graders made. They are on display near our art room. They are absolutely amazing!!! Wow, we have talented sixth graders here at CME! Thank you to Mrs. Tauro for leading them through this amazing art work!

And now we are off to spend the holidays with our loved ones! I hope you have the happiest of holidays, a very Merry Christmas and safe travels if you are heading out from Highlands Ranch. If you are staying put, cozy up by the fire as a family, enjoy some cheesy Hallmark Holiday movies and enjoy the extra time loving on your kids!!

KIDSTAGE -

Winter session for KidStage will be OZ!! To sign up, please see the flyer for more details. This will be a lot of fun!

TALENT SHOW -

Our school wide Talent Show is approaching! We want to get information out to families early so that students can start preparing for their auditions.

Auditions: Monday & Tuesday February 5th and 6th from 3:45-5:00. They will be held in the music room. Auditions will be for the following participants:

Performers
MCs (a script will be given at the audition)
Stage Crew (sign-up audition only)

Audition Expectations: Students need to present completed acts that are performance ready. Any props, music and costumes need to be ready and present at the time of their audition.

Audition Results: Results will be announced through individual letters on February 9th at the end of the school day. We have limited spots available.

Dress Rehearsals: February 21st and 28th from 3:45-5:00 (both days). Students in the talent show will need to bring all prompts and costumes to both dress rehearsals.

School Performance: March 7th from 2:00-3:00

Evening Performance: March 7th from 6:00-7:00 (students arrive at 5:30, ready to go, in the music room).

KINDIE REGISTRATION -

Kindergarten registration will be open on November 27th! You can go to the dcsdk12.org website. A to Z on the right hand side and go down to K for Kindergarten Registration. Go down till you see the green bar (Current DCSD family) or the yellow bar (new to DCSD) and follow the prompts! You will need a copy of your student’s birth certificate, immunizations and a proof of residency (if new to DCSD). Please call Michelle Rank with any questions or email at [email protected].

LOST AND FOUND

Please visit our boutique of lost and found items! You might find what you have been looking for! All items will be donated at the end of the day on December 21, 2023.

MULTISENSORY MATH TUTOR -

Join DCKID on Wednesday, January 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Highlands Ranch Library as Kristen DeBeer, Multisensory Math Tutor, shares ways to support your child’s mastery of multiplication facts.
