News from Steve

Dear Copper Mesa Community,

My oldest son and I went to the Nuggets game on Monday night while he was in town and not only did they win, Russell Wilson was in attendance after their big win on Sunday!! Quite the win for the Broncos - and Nuggets!

Our PRIDE Skill for next week is: INITIATIVE

This week I will mention the following:

  • Dance Presentation

  • Halloween Candy

  • Toiletry Drive

  • Veteran’s Day

  • PD DAY

DANCE PRESENTATION

Last Friday Ms. Laviaguerre and I joined our first graders in watching several of our students dance to some fun music. They had been practicing in our afterschool BASE Program. The performers were awesome and I so much enjoyed watching them. I believe a flyer is in your Thursday folder for the next round of a dance class.

HALLOWEEN

Our annual Halloween parade and parties were once again a huge success. It was wonderful to see so many parents braving the cold out front to see all of the cool costumes and then help out with the classroom parties. It was a nice evening for those kiddos that went trick or treating. Now, with all that candy, you are more than welcome to donate it to our staff. Just have your kiddo(s) bring it in. The dentist will thank you!!

TOILETRY DRIVE

One more word of encouragement for you to bring in toiletry items for our district drive. Check out the promotional video.

VETERANS DAY

Our choir students are looking forward to singing some patriotic songs to all of our Veterans who will be joining us for lunch next Friday, November 10th. I’d love to have some Veterans who don’t have any relatives attending our school join us. So, invite any Veteran or active military personnel to lunch. I will make sure they are well taken care of and honored!!

PD DAY

Our next Professional Development Day is tomorrow. So, while your kiddos are enjoying a long weekend, our teachers will be learning. Many of our teachers will once again be discussing writing, to support our students best. Speaking of which, I have observed several writing lessons and I have been so impressed with both our teachers and students! Happy 3-Day Weekend!!

Only a few days remain to vote! If you haven’t dropped off your ballot yet, I would encourage you to do so today. Every vote matters!!!

Thank you for always supporting Copper Mesa - I am so grateful to be a part of CME!

SSN PROJECT -

The SSN (significant support needs) students and staff are taking on a Holiday Project this season! We are collecting treats, toys and beds for the dogs at Freedom Service Dogs!

The dogs at Freedom Service Dogs are service dogs in training to support individuals with disabilities as well as individuals who are retired veterans. We are looking for donations of dog beds, dog treats and dog toys to give to this life long friend! The best part, we, the SSN program, are taking a field trip to Freedom Service Dogs in December so our students in the SSN program can meet these incredible dogs and give the dogs their gifts as well!

If you have NEW dog toys or beds and want to donate them please bring them down to the SSN room. Dog treat donations need to be unopened in order to safely give them to the dogs.

We are always accepting gently used dog beds and toys to donate to freedom service dogs :)

Thank you so much for your support!
