News from Steve

Dear Copper Mesa Community,

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend with your family and friends! I very much enjoyed my visit with my family in Texas, but wow, was it hot!!

Our Thinking Map next week is: Double Bubble Map (Compare and Contrast)

Our PRIDE Skill next week is: Inquiry

This week I will mention the following:

  • Booster Event/School Picture/Green Shirts

  • iReady Reports

  • After School

  • Student Art Work

  • Watch Dog Dads

  • NFL/College Football Spirit Day

BOOSTER EVENT

Once again you all have amazed me!! We had set $20,000 for our goal and we reached $25,000. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! We will definitely put 100% of the fundraising dollars toward enhancements for our school. Thank you also to all the parents who were able to make it to the obstacle course event last Friday. While it was a bit warm, the students had fun dodging, weaving, and climbing under obstacles. I also had a blast giving out high-fives and running with several of the students.

Because we reached our goal, Ms. Laviaguerre and I will be involved in a color run with all of our students on Friday, September 15th. We will also take a school photo prior to the event so have your kiddos wear their new green CME shirts.

IREADY REPORTS

iReady reports are heading home today. Please take a moment to review them and celebrate successes with your children. We have analyzed the data carefully and have begun our WIN time with our students this week. (I discussed WIN further in my last blast.)

AFTER SCHOOL

I often see students running and playing on the grass in front of our school after the bell rings. I also know parents are outside with their children. Please keep an eye out for your children as they are playing and please ensure they do not go into the bushes, or walk on or play with the rocks. We do not want anyone to get hurt. Thank you!!

STUDENT ARTWORK

I have seen many students show their parents the awesome feather they colored on the display that Ms. Tauro recently hung by our office. Our students are so proud of their artwork, and they always have a huge smile on their faces as they try to find it. In case you haven’t seen it yet, check out the photo of it below.

WATCH DOG DADS

We had a couple of Watch Dog Dads at school this week, helping in the classroom, the gym, recess, and the cafeteria. Thank you to our dads who have signed up. I’d love to see a dad each day. You can sign up through the link on the CMEA Blast! Reach out to your student’s teacher to let them know you signed up!

NFL/COLLEGE FOOTBALL SPIRIT DAY

The NFL kicks off this evening, college football just began and our students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite team's colors or jerseys to kick off the season tomorrow!! Go Broncos and Buffs!!

COFFEE CART -

We run a coffee cart at our school that is put on by our Significant Support Needs Program (SSN). We have the Coffee Cart every Thursday morning from 8:15-9:15. We serve all staff around the school hot coffee, tea, hot chocolate and seasonal items. We also have fresh baked goods that we serve to the staff as well.

We would like to open it up to families to purchase Coffee Cards ($20 for 11 beverages) and Baked Good Cards ($10 for 10 slices of baked goods) for staff all around the school. You are able to do this through MySchoolBucks and make a note for who the card(s) are for.

The Coffee Card raises money for the SSN program as well as for Freedom Service Dogs. Last year we raised over $400 for this organization. We are hoping to reach a goal of over $500 this school year. Thank you for all the support to give our students success!

Dance classes will be $126 for 7 weeks, with the 7th week ending in a dance recital for families to see your mad dance skills! Reach out to Lindsey or Steven at BASE for more information or fill out the form and bring payment to the gym after school this Thursday! We can't wait to see you!
