News from Steve

Dear Copper Mesa Community,

Wow, record rain in CA, and now it appears the weather is on its way here. That’s ok, as I plan on staying inside on Sunday and watching the Super Bowl!!

Our PRIDE Skill next week is: Accountability

This week I will mention the following:

  • Dancing Through The Decades

  • Wish Week

  • Honor Choir

  • Valentines Parties

  • PD Day

DANCING THROUGH THE DECADES

I just have to begin by saying WOW! Our sixth-grade students were phenomenal in their performances of the various decades. I had seen them several times practicing their routine before our assembly and then watching it, I was so impressed with every sixth grader! They were so creative and they all looked like professional dancers! We had a PE and music teacher from another school watch the assembly and they came up to me at the end to share how impressed they were not only of our sixth graders but all of our students who were watching. They thought our students were very well-behaved and loved how they sang along with the songs. A huge shout-out to Mr. Novak and Ms. Muller!

WISH WEEK

I am writing this portion as I am dressed as Harry Potter for Wish Week or as one second-grade student called me, Harry Getchell! It’s been wonderful to see the students and staff dressed up this week. Tomorrow everyone is encouraged to wear their new black Wish Week shirt (if one was purchased) or a black shirt. We are also collecting change to help sponsor our Wish Week kiddo, Addison, and hopefully several additional wishes. Thank you for supporting the Wish Week organization. Check out my twin and the video about Addison!

HONOR CHOIR

If you have the opportunity tomorrow night beginning at 6:30 pm, I would encourage you to come to Rock Canyon to listen to our fifth and sixth grade Honor Choir joining many other school's Honor Choirs in singing several songs. Under the guidance of Ms. Muller, they have been hard at work practicing the songs. I am sure it will be a wonderful performance!

VALENTINES PARTIES

Can you believe next week is already Valentine’s Day? Classroom parties will be held on February 14th. Please look at your teachers' newsletters for additional information. This is always a fun day!

PD DAY

We also have our next Professional Development Day next Friday, February 16th. Your children will enjoy an extra long weekend as Monday, February 19th is President’s Day so no school on Friday or Monday. On the 16th our staff will be gathering with elementary teachers from both the Vista and Thunder Ridge feeder schools to hear from a keynote speaker and then sign up for a variety of sessions. We always appreciate having these days to learn!

Enjoy the big game and the commercials!
