News from Steve

Dear Copper Mesa Community,

It’s hard to believe that it is already March. And with spring approaching, it’s time to move our clocks forward this weekend. It’s a bummer to lose an hour of sleep, but I love that it will stay lighter later!!

Our PRIDE Skill next week is: KINDNESS

This week I will mention the following:

  • Halloween Candy

  • SSN Coffee Cart

  • Talent Show

  • Watch Dog Dads

HALLOWEEN CANDY

Yes, I am mentioning Halloween Candy in March! Thank you so much for donating your leftover Halloween candy to the staff of Copper Mesa. It’s always a huge hit for staff members when they walk through our office and grab a piece. Sending this now as we are about at the end of the candy and I am just so thankful for all of you!!

SSN COFFEE CART

Normally on Thursdays, I am off campus and attending administrative meetings. However, the last two Thursdays I have been at school. I love being at school every day, but even more so on Thursdays as our fabulous SSN Kiddos and staff prepare coffee and treats for our staff. It is so awesome to have our Significant Support Needs (SSN) students serve coffee, tea, or hot chocolate to our staff members. They always have a smile on their face when delivering and it certainly brings a smile to my face as well. A huge shout out to Ms. B and all the EAs in our SSN department for making Regan’s Coffee Cart happen each Thursday!!

TALENT SHOW

Our talent show begins at 6:00 pm this evening and will happen again tomorrow morning for our staff and students. I am looking forward to watching all of our talented students. They have worked extremely hard since before their auditions to perfect their performance. Thank you to Ms. B and Ms. Muller for making this happen. I am so proud of CME students!

WATCH DOG DADS

It’s been a bit of time since we had our last Watch Dog Dag volunteer for either a half or full day at school. We love having Watch Dog Dads at Copper Mesa and I am sure your children love it too, and I bet it will be something they remember forever! We always appreciate having another set of eyes at our school during the day and the help you provide in the cafeteria and playground is wonderful!! Consider signing up for a day through our CMEA newsletter. Thank you!

Looks like we have a bit more snow coming in!! Enjoy it!

A heartfelt thank you for your dedication to our Kids Heart Challenge at Copper Mesa Elementary! We're immensely proud of our students for wholeheartedly embracing this program—learning, helping, and cultivating vital life-skills along the way.

Together, we achieved:

  • Check out our results! http://www2.heart.org/site/TR?fr_id=9733&pg=company&company_id=438111.

  • Students who completed Finn’s Mission and learned Hands-Only CPR, and learned how to spot a stroke F.A.S.T.

  • Donations totals are still finalizing, but so far, we’ve raised an AMAZING $13614 in online donations for our goal!

The Siqueiros family shares their gratitude. Raising funds and awareness for the American Heart Association has impacted each of their three children as they all navigated a congenital heart defect.
